A good downloadable pattern helps a maker understand what they will create and how to get there. Your format depends on the craft, but clarity and testing matter everywhere.

Prepare a useful file

• Explain the skill level, materials, sizing or gauge, and finished result.
• Use readable type, consistent symbols, and images or diagrams where they help.
• Export a PDF that opens cleanly on common devices.
• Check page sizes, print settings, and accessibility before release.
• Have someone else follow the pattern and record confusing steps.

Keep version notes so customers can identify corrected files later.
