PDF Sewing Pattern Launch Checklist: A Final Go/No-Go Review

Download a free printable PDF sewing pattern launch checklist with 17 release checks for files, printing, listings, delivery, and support.

Use this checklist after drafting, testing, and packaging a pattern. It is a final gate, not a substitute for those tasks. Mark each item pass, needs work, or not applicable in your own release log; do not publish simply because the calendar says launch day. The links below explain the steps in depth.

Take this to your worktable: Download the free three-page PDF Sewing Pattern Launch Checklist. It has 17 checks, evidence lines, a release version field, and a final go/no-go decision. It is a direct PDF download with no email signup. Print it or annotate the file for each pattern release.

If this is your first product, begin with how to sell PDF sewing patterns online. Keep one named release version through every check.

Product and instructions

  • ☐ The final design matches the intended project, size range, and finished measurements.
  • ☐ Pattern pieces have consistent labels, marks, cut quantities, and seam allowances.
  • ☐ The materials list, size chart, construction order, and diagrams match the released pieces.
  • ☐ Tester feedback and blocking corrections are recorded; affected steps were retested.
  • ☐ You have the right to use every photograph, diagram, typeface, and other asset in the package.

Use the creation workflow for the design handoff and testing guide for the issue log. A missing fit check or unresolved construction error is a no-go, even if the listing is ready.

Download and printing

  • ☐ Each advertised file is in the final package with a clear filename and version.
  • ☐ Each named paper format has been exported and checked independently.
  • ☐ A test square or known measurement prints at the stated size using the documented setting.
  • ☐ Page joins, registration marks, labels, and large-format dimensions were checked where offered.
  • ☐ The final downloaded files open on another device and instructions remain readable.

The PDF preparation guide explains these checks. Adobe documents that Actual size and Fit are different print-scaling choices; record the setting you actually tested.

Listing and price

  • ☐ The first screen says this is a digital download, not a shipped item.
  • ☐ The title and images show the real project and do not exaggerate the result.
  • ☐ Sizes, skill assumptions, materials, included files, and print formats are explicit.
  • ☐ Support and use terms describe what you will actually provide.
  • ☐ Current platform and payment fees for your location are checked in the price calculation.

Use the listing-writing guide and pricing method. Provider fees change: the current Payhip pricing and Etsy fee basics were checked 11 October 2026 but should be rechecked before publication.

Storefront and customer delivery

  • ☐ The chosen platform accepts the package’s file count, type, and size.
  • ☐ Product visibility is set for the intended launch, not a private test state.
  • ☐ A test route through checkout, receipt, download, and opening the files has been completed where the platform allows it.
  • ☐ The customer can find printing help and a real contact route.
  • ☐ You know how to issue a corrected file and notify affected buyers.

Choose the Payhip setup guide or Etsy setup guide for platform-specific steps. Use the Payhip vs Etsy comparison if the channel decision is still open. Payhip documents a coupon-based checkout test on its digital-product help page; do not mark this item passed unless you actually ran your own test.

Launch communication and review

  • ☐ You can explain who the pattern is for and what someone can make with it.
  • ☐ Your announcement uses accurate original images and links to the live product page.
  • ☐ Any affiliate or sponsored recommendation is disclosed under the applicable program terms.
  • ☐ You have a simple place to record customer questions, file issues, and changes after launch.

A launch is the start of support and learning. Note the release date, product version, storefront URL, tested path, and any unresolved nonblocking issue in one record. If a blocking check fails, fix it and repeat the affected checks rather than hiding the problem in small print.

Go/no-go rule: publish only when the deliverable, description, price, delivery, and support path agree. If you cannot verify a platform workflow because you do not yet have access, mark it unverified and complete the seller-side test before promoting the product.
